MANILA – The Palace on Tuesday disclosed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has been out of contact with Senator Imee Marcos for several years, but clarified that there is no animosity between them.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the President confirmed the matter following a discussion in Malacañang, noting that the senator has not been participating in family functions.
“The President said they have not communicated for almost three years, and she has not been attending family gatherings,” Castro stated.
Earlier, Senator Marcos described her ties with her brother as “non-existent.” She also raised concerns about his health and called on the administration to be more transparent.
The development comes amid perceptions of increasing political differences, with the senator frequently siding with former president Rodrigo Duterte and his allies on key national issues.
Still, the Palace underscored that the President harbors no ill feelings toward his sister.
“If you want clarification, you may ask Senator Imee, but from the President’s side, there is no resentment toward his elder sister,” Castro said.
