MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Friday that the government is continuously working to create more decent jobs and improve opportunities for Filipino workers.
He made the statement during the 124th Labor Day celebration held at the KCC Convention and Events Center in General Santos City.
The event carried the theme “Disenteng Trabaho Para sa Lahat,” highlighting the government’s goal of providing better employment for all Filipinos.
In his speech, Marcos recognized the challenges faced by workers, especially with rising prices of fuel and basic goods.
He said the government is not stopping its efforts to expand job opportunities through training programs, job fairs, and efforts to attract more investors to the country.
According to the President, government job fairs from June 2022 to February 2026 have helped over 1.5 million Filipinos, with around 250,000 hired immediately.
He added that investments approved in 2025 worth PHP2 trillion are expected to generate about 150,000 jobs for Filipinos.
This year’s Labor Day job fairs also offered around 150,000 available positions nationwide.
Marcos also assured continued support for overseas Filipino workers, especially those affected by conflicts abroad who may want to return home.
He said the government has enough fuel supply for about 54 days and continues to provide assistance such as subsidies and transport discounts to ease public burden.
Ending his speech, he encouraged workers to keep going, using the Bisaya word “padayon,” meaning “carry on,” as a message of resilience and hope.
