MANILA — Malacañang on Thursday said Czech authorities had briefly detained Zaldy Co, as confirmed by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Czech Republic during a meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the Czech diplomat verified that Co was taken into custody due to allegedly invalid travel documents.
Castro said the confirmation came directly during the envoy’s discussion with the President.
The development follows Marcos’ earlier social media post claiming Co had been arrested.
However, confusion arose after Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida traveled to Prague, only to be informed that Co was no longer in Czech custody.
“Czech authorities have informed us that Mr. Zaldy Co is no longer in their custody,” Vida previously said.
