TACLOBAN CITY – A new partnership between Eastern Samar State University (ESSU) and Danish firm Bixter Academy is set to open paid international internship opportunities for students in the Visayas, particularly those in agriculture-related programs.
The collaboration was sealed through a memorandum of agreement signed on April 27 in Borongan City, making ESSU the first institution in the region to offer such a program.
Signatories to the agreement included Bixter Academy CEO Nataliya Jorgensen and ESSU president Andres Pagatpatan, with support from Governor Ralph Vincent Evardone.
The groundwork for the initiative was laid in 2025 through the efforts of former governor Ben Evardone. Coordination support was also provided by Glenda Dulfo, who helped link local stakeholders to international opportunities.
Provincial officials said the program aims to equip students with global exposure, enhance their professional skills, and create income opportunities for their families.
Governor Evardone noted that the partnership is expected to strengthen career prospects for ESSU graduates while reinforcing the province’s commitment to education and workforce advancement.
Bixter Academy specializes in matching qualified applicants with traineeships and job placements across European countries.
