
MANILA — NCIP Secretary Nancy Catamco has congratulated Mel Senen Sarmiento on his appointment as head of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU), expressing full support for his new role.
She described Sarmiento as an important partner in advancing peace initiatives among Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples nationwide. Catamco noted that his appointment comes at a time when cooperation, dialogue, and inclusivity are vital in strengthening national unity.
The NCIP Secretary expressed hope that his leadership will further strengthen collaboration among peace stakeholders, local communities, and various sectors in promoting inclusive development. She stressed that such efforts must uphold cultural integrity, advance social justice, and ensure equitable progress for all.
Catamco also reaffirmed NCIP’s commitment to work closely with OPAPRU in advancing peacebuilding, reconciliation, and Indigenous Peoples empowerment programs.
She concluded by calling for continued solidarity in fostering understanding and building a future anchored on respect, dignity, and shared prosperity.
