MANILA – Warm and mostly clear conditions are expected to prevail throughout the Philippines on Thursday, although short-lived thunderstorms may still develop later in the day, the weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said much of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers likely occurring in the afternoon or evening.
Weather forecaster Leanne Loreto explained that these rains are typical during hot conditions, when rising warm air triggers thunderstorm formation.
She also confirmed that no low pressure area is currently being tracked, reducing the likelihood of a tropical cyclone developing in the near term.
Daytime temperatures will remain high, especially in northern Luzon. Tuguegarao City may see temperatures peak at 37°C, while residents in Metro Manila can expect highs of up to 35°C.
However, the heat index could make conditions feel significantly hotter. Areas such as Aparri, Tuguegarao, and Cotabato City may experience a heat index of up to 41°C, while Metro Manila may feel temperatures between 37°C and 38°C.
PAGASA added that wind conditions will be light to moderate nationwide, with seas remaining slight to moderate, posing minimal risk to small vessels.
