MANILA — Filipina tennis standout Alexandra Eala continues to stack up appearances on the European clay circuit after being included in the entry list of the WTA 125 Parma Ladies Open, scheduled from May 11 to 16.
The 18-year-old is set for a busy stretch, beginning with the Madrid Open (April 21–May 3) and the Italian Open (May 5–17), both premier clay-court events leading up to the French Open.
Her participation in Parma, however, remains uncertain as it overlaps with the latter stages of the Rome tournament. Should she advance deep in Rome, she may be forced to skip the lower-tier WTA 125 event.
A similar scheduling conflict occurred earlier this year when her stint in the Philippine Women’s Open depended on her performance at the Australian Open. Following an early exit in Melbourne, Eala returned to Manila and reached the quarterfinals of the local tilt.
After her Italian campaign, Eala is expected to compete in Roland Garros, set from May 24 to June 7.
Season Snapshot
Eala has shown steady form across multiple tournaments this season:
Clay swing: Round of 32 (Stuttgart), Round of 16 (Linz)
Sunshine swing: Round of 16 finishes in both Miami and Indian Wells
Middle East swing: Quarterfinals in Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Philippine Women’s Open: Quarterfinalist
Australian swing: Semifinalist in Auckland, first-round finish in Melbourne
