
MANILA – The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) on Friday clarified that there is no move to ban Roblox in the Philippines, but stressed that the online gaming platform is currently under strict monitoring to ensure compliance with safety standards.
CICC Communications Head Aya Macalma said in a message to the Philippine News Agency that the agency’s Cybercrime Complaint Center (C3) has received more than 30 email reports, 20 Facebook messages, and one inquiry from a minor regarding concerns that Roblox may be blocked in the country.
Some of the concerned users include Filipino game developers who rely on the platform and are calling for its continued availability.
In a separate statement, the CICC said Roblox has committed to strengthening and adjusting its in-game safety features in line with recommendations from the CICC and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The agency emphasized that public concerns are being acknowledged and considered, noting that Roblox serves not only as a gaming platform but also as a source of livelihood for local developers and an educational tool for young users.
However, the CICC said it will maintain strict oversight of the platform to prevent the recurrence of issues previously raised, particularly those involving online sexual abuse or exploitation of children.
It stressed that even a single case of child exploitation is enough to warrant government intervention.
The agency also urged parents and guardians to maintain open communication with their children, stay actively involved in their online activities, and promote responsible digital behavior.

At present, the CICC and DICT have placed Roblox under a three-month probationary monitoring period to ensure compliance with government requirements. The platform has also granted the CICC and the Philippine National Police a “green lane” for faster coordination on public concerns.
