MANILA — A joint operation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit 3 – Special Operation Team, CIDG Pampanga Provincial Field Unit, and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has led to the arrest of two Chinese nationals and the seizure of over P5 million worth of illegal foam and mattress products.
The raid took place on April 7, 2026, at a warehouse in Brgy. Sta. Maria, Minalin, Pampanga.
The two Chinese nationals, identified as “Shao” and “Lin”, were arrested for selling foam and mattress products that failed to meet the minimum labeling requirements and standards set by the DTI.
The seized products, which include 1,956 pieces of assorted foam and mattresses, are valued at P5,051,130.00.
According to authorities, the products were found to be in violation of Republic Act No. 7394, also known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
The law aims to protect consumers from unfair trade practices and ensure that products meet certain standards of quality and safety.
The two Chinese nationals are currently facing charges for violating the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
If convicted, they could face penalties, including fines and imprisonment.
The seized products will be disposed of in accordance with DTI regulations. The authorities are urging consumers to be vigilant when purchasing foam and mattress products and to report any suspicious sellers to the authorities.
