MANILA – Tennielle Madis and Stefi Marithe Aludo are all set to clash for the singles crown at the Philta Visayas Women’s Open this Saturday at the San Carlos Tennis Center in Negros Occidental.
The top-seeded Madis secured her spot in the final by defeating fourth seed Kaye Ann Emana, 6-2, 6-4, while second seed Aludo dominated third seed Tiffany Nocos, 6-0, 6-1.
The two young stars, who previously met in the 2025 Olivarez National Open final with Madis winning 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, are no strangers to high-stakes encounters.
“I’m expecting a challenging match against Stefi. My focus will be on staying consistent and giving my best,” said 19-year-old Madis from M’lang, Cotabato.
Both players train under former Davis Cupper Robert Angelo at the Philippine Tennis Academy and were doubles bronze medalists in the 2025 Thailand SEA Games.
Aludo, winner of the U18 singles crown at the 2025 President’s Cup Masters 8, acknowledged their competitive camaraderie. “Since Tenny and I spend so much time together, we know each other’s strengths, and it will be an intense battle on court,” she said.
In doubles action, Madis and Aludo defeated fourth seeds Nina Angeline Alcala and Lorraine Jallorina, 6-2, 6-2, advancing to the Group A doubles final. They will face the winners of the clash between Mica and Kaye Ann Emana and third seeds Althea Ong and Tiffany Nocos.
Singles champions will take home PHP75,000, while doubles winners will earn PHP30,000. Runners-up will receive PHP40,000 (singles) and PHP15,000 (doubles).
