MANILA — The doubles run of Alex Eala and former world No. 1 Venus Williams came to a close after they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Bad Homburg Open.
Facing experienced doubles campaigners Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nichols, Eala and Williams were defeated, 6-3, 6-2, in the WTA 500 event.
The Slovak-British tandem showcased strong teamwork throughout the match. After breaking a 3-3 tie in the opening set, they swept the next three games before taking command early in the second set to seal the victory.
Although their campaign ended short of the semifinals, Eala and Williams opened the tournament with an impressive straight-set victory over Alexandra Osborne and Catherine Harrison, making their brief partnership a memorable one.
With Bad Homburg behind them, both players now turn their attention to Wimbledon. Williams is set to reunite with her sister Serena Williams in doubles, while Eala heads into the Grand Slam carrying a career milestone as the No. 29 seed.
