The residents of Magsingal and nearby towns in Ilocos Sur are now enjoying improved access to quality healthcare services, thanks to the recent opening of new facilities at the Ilocos Sur District Hospital – Magsingal. The Department of Health (DOH) – Health Facility Enhancement Program (HFEP) funded the project, allocating ₱10 million for infrastructure and ₱24.7 million for equipment.
Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis, Medical Officer IV, represented Regional Director Paula Paz M. Sydiongco during the inauguration ceremony, highlighting the significance of the upgraded facilities. “This development brings healthcare closer to the people who need it most,” Dr. Bobis said. “With these new facilities, we are not only improving infrastructure—we are strengthening our commitment to deliver accessible, equitable, and quality healthcare for every Ilocano family, especially in GIDAs.”
The newly opened facilities include an emergency room, outpatient department, laboratory unit, and ward building, which will enhance emergency response, expand outpatient services, improve diagnostic capabilities, and provide more comfortable hospital stays for patients. According to Dr. Bobis, the project addresses long-standing challenges in healthcare access, particularly for residents in distant communities.
The DOH Ilocos Region continues to upgrade local health systems, ensuring essential services are within reach of every Filipino. The inauguration reflects the region’s commitment to improving health outcomes and easing the burden on patients and their families.
