MANILA — During the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum with Marichu Villanueva, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced it is set to distribute ₱2.5 billion in fuel subsidies to public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers starting next week.
The initiative aims to provide relief to drivers and operators affected by rising fuel prices.
The subsidy program, managed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), will cover drivers of jeepneys, buses, taxis, tricycles, and delivery riders, among others.
Beneficiaries are expected to receive financial assistance, with traditional jeepney drivers getting ₱5,000 and modern jeepney operators receiving ₱10,000.
To be eligible, drivers must be registered with the LTFRB and have a valid driver’s license. They must also be operating within the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces.
The LTFRB will provide more details on the application process, required documents, and deadlines. Interested drivers can check the LTFRB website or visit their local office for updates.
