LOS ANGELES — Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson scored a major triumph at the Academy Awards after his film One Battle After Another captured six trophies, including the coveted Best Picture and Best Director awards.
The ceremony, staged at the Dolby Theatre, celebrated the past year’s most notable achievements in global cinema.
The film prevailed in a closely watched contest with Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler.
Among the evening’s top individual winners were Michael B. Jordan, who was named Best Actor for Sinners, and Jessie Buckley, who secured Best Actress for her performance in Hamnet.
The awards night also underscored the increasing visibility of international artists in Hollywood. Filipino-American cinematographer Autumn Durald Arkapaw won Best Cinematography for Sinners, while the track Golden from KPop Demon Hunters claimed the Best Original Song award.
