MANILA — Rising tennis star Alexandra Eala is back at the Miami Open, officially seeded No. 32 for the event. This placement earns her a first-round bye, advancing her directly into the Round of 64.
Eala will face the winner of the first-round clash between Laura Siegemund and Petra Marcinko, setting the stage for another potential run deep into the tournament alongside top-ranked stars like Iga Świątek, Aryna Sabalenka, and Coco Gauff.
The Filipino ace first made global headlines last year at Miami, entering as a wild card and defeating multiple Grand Slam champions, including Swiatek in the quarterfinals. She also bested Katie Volynets, Jelena Ostapenko, and Madison Keys, before her run ended in a tight semifinal against Jessica Pegula.
Eala’s breakthrough propelled her into the top 75 of the WTA rankings, and she has since climbed to a career-best No. 28, with notable performances at Indian Wells and a recent victory over Coco Gauff.
As she returns to Miami this year, Eala hopes to build on her prior success and solidify her standing among the world’s elite in women’s tennis.
