MANILA – Reports of increased security near Malacañang have been clarified as a routine operational drill, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said Monday.
The official noted that the exercise is designed to test the readiness and coordination of security personnel, and does not indicate that the Palace is on full alert.
“Photos circulating online show normal security procedures being carried out as part of scheduled exercises,” Castro told reporters.
The social media posts, showing a heightened presence near Mendiola, prompted speculation about a security threat. Authorities emphasized that such drills are standard practice to ensure the protection of government offices and staff at the Malacañang complex.
