MANILA – Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso announced on Monday a PHP500,000 reward for the voluntary surrender of the motorcycle driver involved in the fatal shooting of his former security escort, retired police officer George Capistrano, on Sunday in Manila.
The Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) reported that Mayor Domagoso has given the suspect 48 hours to turn himself in.
The mayor also said the suspect could be considered for the Witness Protection Program if he can identify the gunman and the wider network responsible for the attack.
Capistrano, 56, a resident of Barangay 134, was shot by unidentified assailants while riding home on his motorcycle shortly after midnight in Tondo and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Tondo Medical Center.
Mayor Domagoso expressed his condolences and vowed justice. “We are saddened by this incident, but we must act to ensure justice for Capistrano, his family, and other victims of riding-in-tandem crimes, robberies, and hold-ups,” he said.
