MANILA — The prevailing northeast monsoon continues to affect much of Luzon and the Visayas, bringing cloudy conditions and light rains in several provinces, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration reported.
Weather forecasters said areas in the Bicol Region and northern Luzon—including Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province—are expected to experience cloudy skies with light rainfall due to the monsoon system. Authorities said these weather conditions are not expected to cause major disruptions.
Residents in Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, the Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with occasional light showers brought about by the same weather system.
Elsewhere in Mindanao, localized thunderstorms may develop, bringing rain showers that could lead to flash floods or landslides if the storms intensify.
Strong northeasterly winds will affect Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Luzon and the Visayas, generating moderate to rough seas with waves reaching as high as 3.7 meters.
Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao will experience lighter winds and calmer coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate conditions.
PAGASA recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6°C and a minimum of 17.1°C over the past 24 hours at its monitoring station in Quezon City.
