MANILA — Large portions of the Philippines are expected to experience light rains as the northeast monsoon continues to influence the country’s weather, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday.
According to PAGASA, areas likely to receive light rainfall include Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
Isolated light showers are also forecast over the rest of Luzon, the Visayas, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao.
Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms may bring scattered rain showers to the remaining parts of Mindanao.
PAGASA noted that moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough sea conditions will affect the northern and western portions of Northern Luzon and the eastern side of the country.
Elsewhere, winds will be generally light to moderate, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
Weather specialist Leanne Loreto said Tropical Depression Nuri was spotted about 1,580 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. She said the system is not expected to enter the country’s monitoring area and currently poses no threat.
