MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has designated Tourism chief Christina Frasco as Presidential Adviser for Sustainable and Resilient Communities, Malacañang confirmed on Thursday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the appointment aims to improve the implementation and monitoring of key government programs at the grassroots level.
According to Castro, Frasco has been tasked to help ensure that priority national initiatives are properly executed and sustained within local communities.
With the new assignment, Tourism Undersecretary Verna Buensuceso will temporarily lead the Department of Tourism as officer-in-charge.
Earlier in the day, Castro stopped short of confirming any leadership transition within the tourism department, saying an official announcement would be made later.
“Pwedeng oo, pwedeng hindi. Magbibigay kami ng announcement tomorrow,” she said.
