
MANILA – Defying expectations, the Philippine women’s football team has earned a place in the quarterfinals of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026.
The team’s advancement was sealed after Japan defeated Vietnam 4-0 at Perth Rectangular Stadium, giving the Filipinas the edge in the standings through goal difference among third-place finishers.
With a -2 goal difference, the Philippines will move forward alongside Uzbekistan, joining top contenders South Korea, Australia, China, North Korea, Japan, and Chinese Taipei. Vietnam ended their campaign with a -4 goal difference.
Backed by the Philippine Football Federation and the Philippine Sports Commission, the Filipinas are set to face Japan in Sydney on March 15 in the quarterfinal clash.
