MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has officially turned over ₱102.4 million to the Bureau of Treasury, proceeds from the auction of smuggled luxury vehicles lacking proper documentation. The handover was received by Atty. Jerekko Cadorna, representative of Treasurer Sharon Almanza, on Tuesday.
The auctioned vehicles included those allegedly owned by the Discaya family. BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said the funds will significantly contribute to government projects, bolstering the country’s finances.
The next public auction is set for March 17, aiming to sell 24 remaining smuggled luxury vehicles in BOC custody. The move underscores the government’s efforts to crack down on smuggling and generate revenue for public use.
