MANILA — The Supreme Court of the Philippines has announced flexible work arrangements and energy-saving measures across the judiciary, effective immediately. Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo issued Memorandum Circular No. 02, Series of 2026, outlining the new schedule and initiatives aimed at promoting work-life balance and reducing energy consumption.
Under the new arrangement, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeals will adopt a four-day on-site workweek with one day working from home. The Sandiganbayan and Court of Tax Appeals will continue a five-day on-site schedule. First- and second-level courts will implement similar arrangements, with some hearings allowed via video conferencing. The measures are expected to enhance flexibility and efficiency in the judiciary.
The Supreme Court’s initiative is also aimed at cutting energy consumption, with conservation measures set to be implemented across all courts and offices. The policy will remain in effect until further notice, as the Court seeks to foster a more sustainable and productive work environment for its employees.
