MANILA – Criss Cross star Jude Garcia was named Spikers’ Turf Press Corps Player of the Week for March 4 to 8, following his exceptional contributions in the Open Conference.
Garcia, a Far Eastern University graduate, helped the King Crunchers extend their perfect start in the league with impressive showings against 3B Even Masters and Savouge Spin Doctors.
In the March 6 clash with 3B Even Masters at the Playtime FilOil Centre, Garcia tallied 26 points, highlighted by 19 attacks, five blocks, and two aces, steering his team to a 22-25, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15 win. He then added 13 points in Criss Cross’ 25-23, 29-27, 25-17 victory over the Spin Doctors.
“Every team wants to challenge us, so we have to give our best in every game. Complacency isn’t an option, no matter the opponent,” Garcia said.
The four-time MVP surpassed his teammates Alche Gupiteo and Adrian Villados, along with rivals Louie Ramirez (Savouge), JM Ronquillo and Cian Silang (Alpha Insurance), and Jay Rack De La Noche (AEP Cabstars), in the voting by journalists covering the pioneering men’s volleyball league organized by Sports Vision.
The King Crunchers aim to keep their momentum when they meet the Alpha Insurance Protectors on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in San Juan City.
