MANILA – Philippine and Indonesian maritime forces carried out the initial stage of the “Coordinated Patrol” (CORPAT) PHILINDO-40-2026 along their shared waters on Wednesday, underscoring their commitment to secure regional seas.
In a Thursday release, the Philippine Navy (PN) said the operation involved naval and air units from Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao, the Indonesian Navy, and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
For the Philippine side, BRP Artemio Ricarte (PS-37) and Beechcraft King Air C-90 (NV-392) were deployed, while Indonesia fielded the offshore patrol vessel KRI Selar (879). The PCG participated using the BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4401).
“The quarterly CORPAT exercises between the Philippines and Indonesia are designed to strengthen maritime security, enhance operational coordination, and deter illegal activities in our shared maritime domain,” the PN stated.
During the drills, units performed multiple at-sea operations, including communication drills, semaphore exercises, replenishment at sea, and coordinated maneuvering. These exercises allowed both nations to refine tactical procedures and interoperability essential for effective maritime operations.
The naval exercise also served to reaffirm the shared responsibility of the Philippines and Indonesia in maintaining safe, secure, and stable seas while deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries’ maritime forces.
