MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has set up an express lane desk to facilitate the repatriation of Filipino workers from Dubai, Israel, and other affected areas in the Middle East. This move aims to provide a smoother and faster process for returning OFWs amid escalating tensions in the region.
BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval stated that the agency is working closely with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to ensure the safe return of Filipinos. “All concerns and needs of our fellow citizens are being addressed promptly,” Sandoval said.
The BI is coordinating transportation, temporary housing, and other emergency assistance for the returning workers. This comes as the US and Israel continue to clash with Iran, posing risks to Filipinos in the area.
The BI advises OFWs to stay alert, check their travel documents, and contact the nearest embassy or consulate for updates before traveling. The agency will provide regular updates on the repatriation process to avoid confusion.
