MANILA — The Emergency Room of Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center (OMMC) has exceeded its operating capacity by 71 percent, prompting hospital officials to appeal to patients to consider seeking emergency treatment at other nearby medical facilities.
In a public advisory issued Thursday night, November 5, the hospital disclosed that its emergency department was operating at 171 percent capacity amid the influx of patients.
Those requiring immediate medical attention were asked to bear with longer waiting times or consider transferring to nearby hospitals capable of accommodating additional patients.
The Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (MCDRRMD) has made its ambulance units available to assist in transferring patients when necessary.
OMMC apologized for the inconvenience and appealed for public understanding, assuring patients that its medical personnel were continuing efforts to provide appropriate attention and care despite the overcrowded emergency department.
