MANILA — A 49-year-old Filipino passenger bound for Manila was arrested at Laguindingan Airport on Friday, October 30, after authorities discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest on a murder charge.
The arrest was carried out by personnel of the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-ASG), specifically the Aviation Security Unit 10, in coordination with Regional Intelligence Unit 10 and airport authorities.
Police said the warrant issued against the passenger carried no recommended bail, meaning he could not secure temporary liberty through bail while facing the charge.
The suspect was intercepted before he could proceed with his scheduled trip to Manila.
Following his arrest, the passenger was placed under the custody of Aviation Security Unit 10 for documentation and the necessary legal proceedings.
Authorities did not immediately disclose further details about the murder case or the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the arrest warrant.
The operation underscores the continuing coordination among airport security personnel and intelligence units in identifying and apprehending individuals with outstanding warrants at aviation facilities.
