MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is set to formally welcome Polish President Karol Nawrocki to Malacañang today, where the two leaders will hold bilateral talks as part of Nawrocki’s state visit to the Philippines.
The meeting will be followed by the signing of bilateral agreements and a joint press conference before Marcos hosts a state banquet for Nawrocki and First Lady Marta Nawrocka.
Marcos and Nawrocki are expected to discuss the strengthening of defense and security cooperation, as well as trade and investment, agriculture, science and technology, information and communications technology, and tourism.
The two leaders are also expected to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest to the Philippines and Poland.
Nawrocki’s state visit comes amid continuing efforts to expand bilateral ties, following the first Philippines-Poland Joint Defense Cooperation Committee meeting in Warsaw in July and political consultations held in Manila in September.
The Philippines and Poland established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1973, marking the beginning of formal diplomatic ties between the two countries.
