MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas Women’s 3×3 made an early statement in the 2026 Asian Games, beating powerhouse Mongolia, 17-12, in their Pool C opener at the Kinjo Futo Station Square Venue in Nagoya, Japan.
Quinn Dela Rosa led the Filipinas with a game-high 10 points, converting 10 of 14 one-point attempts while also pulling down three rebounds.
Kennan Ka contributed three points, including the Philippines’ lone two-pointer, and grabbed a team-best four rebounds. Amyah Español and Maria Pasilang added two points apiece, with Español also making an impact on defense with three blocks.
The Filipinas shot 52 percent from the field compared with Mongolia’s 29 percent and held a 19-17 edge in rebounds.
The victory capped a strong day for Philippine 3×3 basketball against Mongolia, with the Gilas Men’s 3×3 team also posting a 19-12 victory over the Mongolians earlier in the Asian Games.
The Filipinas face Macau at 1 p.m. Tuesday as they continue their Pool C campaign.
