MANILA — Police arrested a 46-year-old tricycle driver in Santa Cruz, Manila, on September 16, 2026, after serving a warrant for alleged violation of Presidential Decree 1602, as amended by Republic Act 9287.
SONNY LUY y TABULAO was arrested at about 3 p.m. in front of a 7-Eleven convenience store along Tomas Mapua Street corner Recto Avenue, Barangay 301, Santa Cruz.
Personnel of the Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Manila Police District’s Moriones Tondo Police Station (PS-2), led by PMAJ Genesis C. Aliling, carried out the arrest pursuant to a warrant issued by Judge Joseph Patrick Bathan, presiding judge of Manila Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 25.
The warrant, dated September 10, 2026, was issued in connection with Criminal Case No. M-MNL-26-07296-CR for violation of PD 1602, as amended by RA 9287. The court indicated P30,000 bail.
Police said the arresting team used Android and iPhone devices as authorized digital recording devices during the execution of the warrant, in compliance with Supreme Court Administrative Matter No. 21-06-08-SC.
Luy was informed of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before being brought to the Moriones Tondo Police Station at around 4 p.m.
He remains detained at the PS-2 custodial facility pending the return of the warrant to the court that issued it.
