MANILA — Rainy conditions are expected to continue across several parts of the Philippines today, Thursday, as the southwest monsoon or habagat affects Luzon and the Visayas, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
PAGASA said occasional rains are expected over the Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan and Occidental Mindoro. Metro Manila, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro and several nearby areas may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
The Visayas and the rest of Luzon will generally have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Similar conditions are expected over Mindanao.
Temperatures may range from 24°C to 35°C in Luzon and the Visayas, while Mindanao could see temperatures between 23°C and 36°C.
For Friday, Sept. 4, rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to remain possible in many areas. PAGASA’s outlook shows continued cloudy conditions and occasional rains in several parts of Luzon, while portions of the Visayas and Mindanao may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Pilandok was located east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon early Thursday and was moving northwestward. The storm was forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
Residents in areas prone to flooding and landslides are advised to remain alert, particularly during periods of persistent or heavy rainfall.
