MANILA, Philippines — Don’t put the umbrella away just yet.
The southwest monsoon is expected to keep much of Luzon and the Visayas under cloudy and unsettled skies today and tomorrow, with occasional rains, rain showers and thunderstorms in various areas.
PAGASA said Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon may experience occasional rains today, while the Visayas could see scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Moderate to strong southwest winds are also expected, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough.
The wet weather is likely to continue on Sunday. Metro Manila is forecast to remain under occasional rains, while parts of Northern Luzon may experience monsoon rains. Temperatures in the capital are expected to stay around 24°C to 29°C.
PAGASA has also raised rainfall warnings in several areas, with possible flooding and landslides in communities vulnerable to heavy rain.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area east of extreme Northern Luzon is being monitored for possible development into a tropical cyclone.
With the Habagat still active, residents are advised to keep rain gear handy and stay updated on the latest rainfall, thunderstorm and flood advisories, especially if traveling or living in low-lying and landslide-prone areas.
