MANILA — Two suspected drug traffickers were arrested and P1.5 million worth of high-grade marijuana, or “kush,” was seized in a buy-bust operation in Binangonan, Rizal, authorities said.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Calabarzon, working with police officers, arrested the suspects identified only as “Karl” and “Rhea” during the sting operation in Barangay San Carlos at about 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 22.
Authorities recovered approximately one kilogram of suspected kush from the two suspects.
Also seized were a digital weighing scale, assorted drug paraphernalia and two mobile phones, which investigators will subject to digital examination for possible evidence of illegal drug transactions.
The suspects remain in custody and are facing charges for alleged violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The operation forms part of continuing efforts by PDEA and law enforcement agencies in Calabarzon to disrupt the distribution of illegal drugs in the region.
