MANILA — Motorists will soon have a faster way to check their No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP) records as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) introduces a new search feature on its MayHuliKa portal starting Aug. 24.
The upgraded system will allow vehicle owners to search for NCAP violations using either their plate number and ticket number or their plate number and motor vehicle file number.
The MMDA said motorists who have received a notice of violation or traffic ticket may use the first option to verify a specific case.
Those who want to check the complete NCAP history of a vehicle may use the second option, which will display all recorded violations linked to its motor vehicle file number.
The agency said the new feature is intended to make violation verification easier, more secure and more accessible to the public.
But alongside the expanded access, the MMDA issued a fresh warning against scammers exploiting traffic violation notices to trick motorists.
The agency said “MMDA_NCAP” is its official sender for text notifications and reminded the public that legitimate messages do not include links.
“Legitimate messages do not contain links. Any text message with a link is a scam,” the MMDA said.
Evidence and records of NCAP violations may only be accessed through the official MayHuliKa web portal or through the eGovPH app by searching for MMDA.
The growing use of the system was highlighted by its July figures, when MayHuliKa recorded more than 15 million site visits and 2.7 million unique users.
The portal has since been integrated into the eGovPH Super App through a joint initiative of the MMDA and the Department of Information and Communications Technology, giving motorists a centralized platform for checking and settling traffic violations.
The MMDA, however, reminded motorists that leaving violations unresolved can have consequences beyond the traffic record.
Unsettled violations are flagged in a motorist’s record with the Land Transportation Office and may prevent the renewal of the vehicle’s registration.
The new feature is expected to give motorists a more direct way to verify their records while helping them avoid falling victim to fraudulent traffic violation messages.
