MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected across most parts of the country on Friday as the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to weaken, although some areas may still experience localized rain showers and thunderstorms.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the weakening of the habagat is expected to continue through Saturday.
Northern Luzon, particularly Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Apayao and Batanes, may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, thunderstorms and occasional lightning due to the prevailing monsoon.
Other areas of Luzon, as well as the Visayas and Mindanao, are generally expected to have fair weather, although localized thunderstorms may develop, particularly during the afternoon and evening.
PAGASA said there is currently no gale warning over any of the country’s coastal waters.
For Metro Manila, temperatures are expected to range from 25°C to 30°C, while Tuguegarao could reach as high as 34°C. Cebu and Tacloban may see temperatures of up to 35°C and 34°C, respectively.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Saudel remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), about 2,735 kilometers east of southeastern Luzon. PAGASA said the storm could enter the PAR between Sunday and Monday and may strengthen the habagat once again.
