SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Classes in both public and private schools across all municipalities of Zambales and Olongapo City were suspended Wednesday as Tropical Storm Maymay continued to bring inclement weather over the province.
The final local government units to declare class suspensions were the municipalities of San Marcelino, San Antonio, and Masinloc, along with Olongapo City.
They joined the earlier suspension announcements made by Botolan, Cabangan, Palauig, Sta. Cruz, Subic, Castillejos, San Narciso, San Felipe, Candelaria, and the provincial capital of Iba, effectively placing the entire province under class suspension.
In its 8 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Tropical Storm Maymay was moving slowly westward over the sea west of La Union.
The storm was carrying maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts reaching up to 80 kph.
PAGASA also maintained Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the northern towns of Candelaria, Sta. Cruz, Masinloc, and Palauig in Zambales, warning residents of possible minimal to minor impacts from strong winds.
Authorities advised the public to continue monitoring official weather bulletins and comply with safety advisories as the storm continues to affect parts of Luzon.
