MANILA — A resolution has been filed in the Senate to recognize P-pop sensation SB19 for making history as the first all-Filipino group to perform at the internationally renowned Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
Senator Bam Aquino filed Senate Resolution No. 545 on Friday, commending the five-member group—Pablo, Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin—for elevating Original Pilipino Music (OPM) on the global stage through their breakthrough performance.
In the resolution, Aquino described SB19’s appearance at Lollapalooza as a significant achievement for Filipino artists, saying it reflects the growing international recognition of OPM and expands the country’s presence in one of the world’s biggest music festivals.
He also praised the group for serving as cultural ambassadors, saying their talent, professionalism, and pride in their Filipino identity have helped promote Philippine culture and inspire greater appreciation for the country among international audiences.
SB19 performed on the Lollapalooza stage on July 31 Philippine time (July 30 in the United States), delivering crowd favorites including “DAM,” “Gento,” “MAPA,” “VISA,” and “Dungka,” along with their newly released track, “Lawless.”
Prior to their Lollapalooza debut, the award-winning group also took part in the Grammy Museum’s Global Spin Live showcase. Member Josh likewise represented SB19 during the Chicago White Sox-New York Yankees game, where he threw the ceremonial first pitch.
The Senate resolution underscores SB19’s growing influence in the international music scene and recognizes the group’s contribution to promoting Filipino talent before a global audience.
