MANILA – Days after delivering his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. immediately embarked on a series of official engagements across the country aimed at advancing the administration’s priorities on healthcare, housing, food security, energy, and local development.
The week-long schedule underscored the President’s push to translate policy commitments into concrete government action through site inspections, project launches, consultations, and direct interaction with communities.
Marcos opened his post-SONA activities in Davao de Oro, where he inspected the Davao de Oro Provincial Hospital in Montevista and turned over PHP147.94 million for the acquisition of additional medical equipment. The visit formed part of the administration’s continuing efforts to improve public healthcare services and strengthen medical facilities nationwide.
He also led the rollout of the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program in Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Davao Occidental, bringing government assistance, livelihood opportunities, and social services directly to local residents through funding from the Local Government Support Fund and the Socio-Civic Projects Fund.
In Davao City, the President inspected the People’s Ville housing project and announced plans to construct 42 additional residential buildings targeted for completion before the end of 2027 to help address the country’s housing backlog.
On Wednesday, Marcos shifted his attention to the energy sector as he inaugurated the Energy Museum in Taguig City during the 25th anniversary of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act (EPIRA). He reiterated the need to strengthen the country’s energy security while pursuing reforms that would make electricity more reliable, affordable, and sustainable.
The President likewise welcomed the farewell calls of the ambassadors of Hungary and the Netherlands at Malacañang and administered the oath of office to newly appointed Court of Tax Appeals Associate Justices Debbie Jean Centeno Dijamco and Paolo Sierra Teston.
On Thursday, Marcos visited the rehabilitated Sual Fish Port in Pangasinan, directing the Department of Agriculture to continue modernizing fish port facilities to improve food production, reduce post-harvest losses, and boost the incomes of fisherfolk.
He later met with Filipino fishermen and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources personnel involved in missions near Bajo de Masinloc before proceeding to Tarlac City for another leg of the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” program.
The President also visited the Northern Luzon Command, where he reaffirmed the government’s support for the Armed Forces of the Philippines and emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong national defense.
Through the series of engagements, the Marcos administration sought to demonstrate that the commitments outlined in the President’s fifth SONA are being backed by concrete programs and on-the-ground implementation.
