MANILA, Philippines — Police officers from the Manila Police District’s Sta. Mesa Police Station (PS-8) on Thursday served a warrant of arrest on an inmate detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Manila in connection with a pending case for slight physical injuries.
The warrant was served at around 4 p.m. inside the BJMP custodial facility at the Old Bilibid Compound along Quezon Boulevard in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The accused, identified by police as Melquiades Vinluan y Marquez, alias “Melvin,” 28, is currently detained at the jail facility. He is a resident of Barangay 607, Sta. Mesa, Manila.
The operation was carried out by members of the Warrant Section of Sta. Mesa Police Station under the supervision of Police Major Izen O. Retorbar.
Police said the arrest order stemmed from Criminal Case No. M-MNL-26-05000-CR for Slight Physical Injuries, pursuant to a warrant issued on July 30, 2026 by Judge Ihmie Michiko Custodio Gacad-Presto, Presiding Judge of the Metropolitan Trial Court, Branch 5, Manila.
The court recommended bail of P1,000 for the temporary liberty of the accused.
Authorities said Vinluan was formally informed of the warrant and apprised of his constitutional rights in a language he understood before the order was served.
To ensure transparency and compliance with police operational procedures, the implementation of the warrant was documented using a Body-Worn Camera (BWC) and an alternative recording device.
Following the service of the warrant, the Sta. Mesa Police Station said the corresponding return of warrant will be submitted to the issuing court for appropriate action.
