MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday paid tribute to the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) as it celebrated its 112th anniversary, urging its members to continue serving as active partners in nation-building through faith, unity, and community service.
In a message commemorating the milestone, the President recognized the religious organization’s enduring contribution to Philippine society and reaffirmed the administration’s support for institutions that promote peace, strengthen families, and encourage civic responsibility.
Marcos said the anniversary should inspire INC members to deepen their commitment to serving others by extending compassion to those in need, offering hope to the weary, and helping foster harmony in their respective communities.
He encouraged the church’s members to continue demonstrating that genuine faith is reflected not only in religious devotion but also in responsible citizenship and meaningful public service.
The President described the Iglesia ni Cristo as a religious institution that has remained steadfast for more than a century, guided by discipline, faith, and a shared commitment to the common good. He also noted the church’s continued growth beyond the Philippines, with congregations now established in many countries around the world.
According to Marcos, the INC’s long-standing dedication to integrity and service has helped strengthen the moral fabric of society and has inspired generations of Filipinos to contribute positively to their communities.
He expressed hope that the church’s 112th anniversary would renew its commitment to its spiritual mission while continuing to play a constructive role in national development.
The religious organization recently figured in national headlines after holding a series of peace rallies expressing support for Senator Rodante Marcoleta, one of its members, who is currently facing plunder and related criminal charges.
Malacañang had allowed the assemblies to proceed but emphasized that public gatherings should not be used to promote activities that could undermine public order or democratic institutions.
The President’s message highlighted the government’s recognition of the significant role faith-based organizations continue to play in promoting social cohesion, volunteerism, and nation-building across the Philippines.
