MANILA — Sen. Rodante Marcoleta has appealed to his supporters to remain steadfast in their pursuit of transparency, accountability, justice, and democracy while he remains under police custody at the Philippine National Police (PNP) General Hospital.
In a Facebook statement released on July 11, the detained senator addressed his supporters, assuring them that their shared cause should continue despite his current confinement.
Marcoleta has been staying at the PNP General Hospital inside Camp Crame since his arrest on July 6. He faces a nonbailable plunder charge stemming from an alleged undeclared P75-million campaign contribution. Authorities said he continues to undergo medical observation due to hypertension and other health-related concerns.
In his message, Marcoleta acknowledged that he and his supporters are temporarily separated but emphasized that their collective advocacy should not stop.
He said the continued pursuit of transparency, accountability, justice, and democracy remains essential in securing lasting peace, stability, public order, and economic progress for the country.
The senator also expressed confidence that he would see his supporters again, saying he believes such a reunion will come through God’s guidance and compassion.
Marcoleta ended his message by thanking his followers for their continued support and expressing his affection for them.
The statement was released amid continuing public attention over his hospitalization after police earlier declared that he was medically fit for transfer, although he remains confined at the PNP medical facility under police custody.
