MANILA — Saudi energy giant Aramco is set to officially enter the Philippine retail fuel market this month with the opening of its first branded gasoline station in Parañaque City, marking the company’s return to the country through its partnership with Unioil.
The new station follows Aramco’s acquisition of a 25-percent stake in the Co family’s Unioil Group, a strategic investment aimed at expanding the Saudi firm’s presence in Southeast Asia’s growing downstream fuel industry.
In the days leading up to the launch, Aramco Stations Philippines has been teasing its arrival through social media, highlighting the company’s global footprint and signaling its long-awaited Philippine debut.
The company’s published local office address corresponds with that of Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. (UPPI), reinforcing the partnership between the two firms.
Aramco finalized its investment in UPPI in October 2025, securing interests in both UPPI and Unioil Energy Pte. Ltd. through an investment valued at approximately 295 million Saudi riyals.
The partnership is expected to introduce Aramco’s internationally recognized fuel products and Valvoline-branded lubricants to selected fuel stations across the country, while strengthening Unioil’s retail network and market reach.
For Aramco, the deal provides a gateway into the Philippines’ expanding premium fuel market, while enabling Unioil to accelerate its nationwide growth plans with the backing of one of the world’s largest energy companies.
UPPI currently operates more than 160 fuel stations nationwide and is engaged in wholesale fuel trading, specialty oil marketing, and asphalt distribution.
Its affiliate, Unioil Energy Pte. Ltd., serves as the group’s fuel sourcing and supply arm, ensuring a steady flow of petroleum products to support Unioil’s expanding retail operations.
The opening of the Parañaque station marks Aramco’s first visible step in establishing its brand presence in the Philippine fuel retail sector, with further expansion expected as its partnership with Unioil progresses.
