MANILA — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has extended P1.09 million in reintegration assistance to 62 returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to help them rebuild their livelihoods and transition back into their communities.
Of the beneficiaries, 32 former OFWs who are now public school teachers in the Caraga Region each received P20,000 teaching kits to help them purchase laptops, printers, and other instructional materials needed in the classroom.
Another 30 returning OFWs were granted P15,000 each under the DMW’s Enhanced Livelihood Program for OFW Reintegration, which aims to help former migrant workers establish sustainable sources of income after returning home.
Before the distribution of assistance, the DMW’s Welfare and Reintegration Services Division conducted a reintegration session where beneficiaries shared their experiences, sacrifices, and challenges while working overseas, as well as their hopes of building a better future with their families in the Philippines.
The DMW said the program forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to support returning OFWs by providing financial assistance and livelihood opportunities that will help them achieve long-term economic stability.
