MANILA, Philippines — Riding strong momentum on grass this season after capturing her first title on the surface at the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 125 tournament in Birmingham, England, Filipina ace Alexandra Eala is set to team up again in doubles with Czech player Nikola Bartůňková.
Eala is already familiar with the right-handed Czech, having spent considerable time on court with Bartůňková during the grass-court swing this year. The two previously partnered at the Birmingham Classic, where they fell in the first round despite holding a match point, before Eala later defeated Bartůňková in the singles final.
That tournament highlighted Eala’s growing confidence and competitiveness on grass, marking a notable step forward in her rising career.
The duo will look to secure their first win together when they reunite at the Wimbledon Championships.
Other confirmed pairings in the women’s doubles draw include top seeds Taylor Townsend of the United States and Katerina Siniakova of Czechia.
Also notable are American Iva Jovic—who recently defeated Eala at Queen’s Club—partnering with Poland’s Magda Linette, as well as Sofia Kenin of the United States teaming up with Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.
Meanwhile, it remains unconfirmed but widely speculated that former world No. 1 Serena Williams could reunite with her sister Venus Williams. However, the pair would require a wildcard entry to compete together.
