MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has denied rumors suggesting that Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla is set to be replaced, reaffirming his confidence in the Cabinet official.
In a press briefing in Tokyo, Japan on Friday, Marcos said he sees no reason for a leadership change at the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), even amid questions about the handling of fugitive arrests.
The President dismissed speculation as politically motivated.
“I don’t know why that rumor went around. I think somebody wants his job,” Marcos said, noting that some individuals may be spreading misinformation in hopes of securing the post.
He also clarified that there are no plans for further Cabinet reshuffles, except for the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), where Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma stepped down due to health concerns. Former Senator Francis Tolentino has been appointed as his replacement.
Marcos emphasized that his administration remains stable and focused, with no changes planned for the DILG leadership.
