MANILA — The wife of Senator Bato dela Rosa has appealed to the judiciary to stop any possible transfer of the lawmaker to The Hague, where the International Criminal Court (ICC) is based.
In a social media statement, Grace Nancy Dela Rosa expressed opposition to efforts that could lead to her husband being turned over to international authorities over allegations tied to the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
She insisted that Filipino citizens should be tried locally and warned against allowing foreign jurisdiction to take over the case.
“Please do not be an accessory to bringing my husband to the Hague,” she said, adding that such a move would suggest the country is unable to handle the case on its own.
She also urged the courts to immediately resolve questions surrounding ICC jurisdiction, saying delays only increase pressure on her husband’s situation.
“Every Filipino must be tried in his own country,” she emphasized in her appeal.
Dela Rosa further asked the public to support her statement, framing the issue as a broader fight involving national sovereignty and justice.
