MANILA, Philippines — The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) reminded businesses and government offices that digital National Senior Citizens IDs (NSCIDs) must be accepted as valid proof of identity for senior citizen transactions and privileges.
NCSC Chairperson Ma. Merceditas N. Gutierrez said the digital NSCID is an official government-issued identification card and should be honored the same way as physical IDs available through the eGovPH App.
The commission stressed that senior citizens presenting digital NSCIDs are entitled to the following benefits:
- 20% discount and VAT exemption on qualified goods and services
- Priority access in public and private establishments
- Access to government assistance and social service programs
- Use of the ID for banking, financial claims, and other official transactions
- Acceptance in any transaction requiring a senior citizen ID
The agency also urged establishments to improve awareness and compliance to avoid inconvenience and discrimination against elderly Filipinos.
According to the NCSC, over 1.3 million senior citizens accessed their digital NSCIDs through the eGovPH App from August 2025 to April 2026.
The agency said the digital system helps reduce bureaucracy, improve service delivery, and lessen dependence on physical documents by providing a more secure app-based identification platform for older Filipinos.
