MANILA — Daily commuters in Metro Manila can now enjoy free rides after the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) officially launched its “Libreng Sakay” program aimed at easing transportation expenses.
According to PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles, the initiative follows the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to provide more responsive and commuter-friendly public services.
Under the program, two PCSO buses are now offering free rides along the busy SM Fairview–Quiapo route and back, one of Metro Manila’s major commuter corridors.
The free bus service operates from Monday to Friday during peak hours:
- 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The initiative is designed to help workers, students, and other commuters cope with rising daily transportation costs while providing safer and more convenient travel options.
PCSO said the program reflects the agency’s commitment to extending public service beyond its traditional mandate by addressing the everyday needs of Filipinos.
The agency also encouraged commuters to take advantage of the free rides while observing proper courtesy and safety protocols during trips.
