MANILA — A fire broke out before dawn Wednesday in a residential area along Mayhaligue Street, Tondo, Manila, prompting a second-alarm response from the Bureau of Fire Protection. No casualties or injuries have been reported so far, police said.
According to an SMS report from the Manila Police District’s Tondo Moriones Police Station (PS-2), the fire started at about 2:40 a.m. at the corner of Mayhaligue Street and Fermin Tubera Street, covering parts of Barangay 262 and Barangay 264.
The incident was reported to police at 3:20 a.m.
The BFP raised the first alarm at 2:46 a.m., then escalated it to second alarm at 2:57 a.m. as the blaze spread through residential houses in the area.
As of the time of the police report, firefighters were still working to suppress the flames.
RESPONDING UNITS
Fire Senior Inspector Demetrio Sablan, BFP ground commander, is leading BFP personnel and fire volunteers at the scene.
MPD responders included officers from Padre Algue PCP led by Pat Zuriel Alcantara, along with TMRU Charlie led by Pat Patrick Vega.
Police interviewed resident Alfredo Jalgalado of Barangay 262 as part of the initial inquiry.
Authorities said no casualties or injuries have been reported as of 3:20 a.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
